You can't go far wrong with a 1980s pencil skirt by Planet - serious quality and marvellous fabric. Add your own decoration and a dull, worthy skirt becomes something much more interesting. The same goes for cushions. There are some gorgeous cushion covers around but I like making my own. Original 1970s fabrics are a firm favourite.
