I love making vivid colours and patterns, piling on the texture and making bold, simple interpretations of figurative subjects.
Oil paints are too smelly and messy. So I use a combination of acrylics, fabric paints, sand, glues, varnishes, sealants and specialist craft / industrial paints to create complicated layers of texture and pattern. Why? This texture represents all the detail you don't see when you look at a scene or an object.
