Your Questions About Japanese Arts And Crafts

Steven asks…
Do You Think I Could Be a Really Great Artist?
Well I've been drawing since I was like 3. As I child, all I would do all day was draw and do arts and crafts and things like that. When I was 9, I got fascinated with manga and anime (Japanese style of art). When I drew in 6th grade, everybody was like "Whoa! You're amazing!" I wanted to be a lawyer or a singer (I also have talents in debating and singing, I'm only 14 and can hit over a high d, my voice teacher is really amazed). So I quit art and didn't draw for a while, all through 7th grade. My best friend is a phenomenal artist, she's 15... http://4everhandinhand.deviantart.com/art/R0cK-tHe-HeLL-138690918 isn't she great?) I basically ended up getting inspired by her and started drawing again. I had a revelation and started drawing differently, now I think my art is really good. I'm not at her standards, but she's just special that way
Now I look back at my drawings in 6th grade, and I'm disgusted by them. It really amazes me how much I've improved since then. So I thought "Hey, if I've improved THIS much in 3 years, think of how much I coud improve in the time till I go to college." So I decided to take Art next year I'm a good student and so is my friend (she's a year older but we're still in the same grade). I'm hoping I'll improve more in art. I'm really good at making films and lip synching...so I want to get into animation? Do you think I'd be a good enough artist by the time I go to college to pursue my dream?

Artie answers:
If being an artist is your dream then let nothing stop you from being one because you obviously have the potential.

I am not sure where you are from so this may be of absolutley no help to you, but here in Brisbane we have a not-for-profit organisation called "Noah's Ark" that we subscribe to and they deliver special packs for use to loan in different topics - Eg Counting & Sorting / Indian / Chinese / Traditional Aboriginal etc and some of the things are really good like Indian Wood Blocks which you paint with, and musical instruments from all around the world. Otherwise we have bought some posters (and spefically we do have a Japanese Colours one) but I'm not sure where we got these from but you can easily make these yourself with help from a site that does English -> Japanese then type it up, blow it up to A3 size and laminate.
Hope this helps!

Sandra asks…
name of a japanese tree?
I want to know the red tree they planted on curb appeal. The design came from a magazine and had a archway and a buddha in the design. I think it came from this episode: Asian Arts-and-Crafts Update
Episode CRB-1910
if you know of the japanes red tree name thanks

Artie answers:
Yep, looks like a Japanese Maple. One of my favorites. There are a ton of different varieties though. If you're looking to purchase one and your local nursery doesn't carry the type you're looking for, I highly recommend checking them out on eBay. Seams strange, I know, but I've purchased many plants from eBay sells and have yet to be disappointed.

Ruth asks…
Okay, so I want a Japanese themed bedroom. How can I accomplish this dream(small bedroom)?
Okay, so my room is basically a square. I want a theme to it so I can keep things more organized.
I mean my room is SMALL. It's like 124"x4.
I was considering getting a twin bed instead a full. I don't need a lot of room for sleeping. Plus I'd like to have a little place for guests to sit.(No one hangs in the living room. They just don't).
I mean I have a computer and a scanner/printer. That's the only thing that MUST stay in my room. Then I have two fairly sized closets.
Can anyone give me links to places where I can achieve my goal?
Don't worry about the price. I'll fix things into my budget(though you're more likely to get the best answer if you give me sites that have reasonable prices. *Winks*)
Thanks! Have a nice day! ^.^
Also I'd like to do as much DIY things as possible. Arts and crafts is a favorite of mine!
Thanks Mag97!!
Your resources made me laugh. It's good that you are creative(you're helping in Yahoo answers- that's good!)!
Oof. Thanks guys! I like the idea of using a futon as a sofa/bed. It makes sense.
Peoples, I cannot paint nor use candles. I live in an apartment complex.
As far as furniture, is there any type of storage ideas?

Artie answers:
That sounds REALLY AWESOME. I like
))
Just pick a base colour(black, white, brown, tan, beige...) and your favourite colour(trim). I would suggest:
green/brown
blue/brown
black/pink
white/red
white/rainbow
Just use whatever base colour (or a similar shade) you choose for the furniture, and a trim colour for the pillows/rugs/curtains/decorations. You should worry about the big stuff first, and get around to putting the finishing touches later. You could also use a stencil to paint patterns on the walls, and incorporate that pattern into other areas of the room. Eg. Bamboo plants silhouettes or get wall stickers. I think black and white would look really cool with green/turquoise, but it's your choice.

Wait...is bamboo from China???

*go browse google. They have a LOT of good stuff

looks so chicccccccccccc
DDDD
Also, go on google and search for model rooms. You can get really good ideas from them.
Go out to random stores and browse through for ideas. Maybe that lamp could work with that pattern you like, or the rugs match the pillows.
Do whatever you like. It's your room, and you should love it.
Good Luck and Happy Decorating!
