David asks…

King Arthur's knights fire a cannon from the top of the castle wall. The cannonball is fired at a speed of 44?

King Arthur's knights fire a cannon from the top of the castle wall. The cannonball is fired at a speed of 44 m/s and at an angle of 34°. A cannonball that was accidentally dropped hits the moat below in 1.9 s.
(a) How far from the castle wall does the cannonball hit the ground?

(b) What is the ball's maximum height above the ground?

Artie answers:

Horizontal component of first is 44 cos 34 = 36.48 m/s
Vertical is 44 sin 34 = 24.60 m/s
Height above the wall at the peak is
h = v²/2g = (24.60)²/2•9.8 = 30.89 m
and time taken to reach the height is
t = v/g = 24.60/9.8 = 2.51 sec
total time to go up and down and hit the ground is 2.51+2.51+1.3 = 6.32 sec
vertical distance traveled in that time
d = vt = 36.48 m/s x 6.32 s = 230.6 meters

I'm writing a fantasy book based upon King Arthur, am I aloud to use the following characters?

Arthur Pendragon, Uther Pendragon, Morgana, Guinevere, Lancelot and Merlin? I've seen many different authors use these characters, do I need to get special permission or something?

Artie answers:

It is fine to use them, but it may bore the reader if there is no significant differece between their personalities in your story compared to King Arthur. Might i suggest using different ages or alternate story lines, perhaps a side story of King Arthur?
