Your Questions About African Art History

Nancy asks…
How can I re-write this paragraph?
African art has played a significant role in the culture and history of the world. It goes back into the mists of time, with earliest examples being figures of people and animals carved into rocks. Its distinguishing characteristics and inspirations have influenced many artists to adapt their own interpretations of the art in their own time period. There are thousands of different ethnic groups in Africa. African art has largely widespread characteristics which make it distinctly African. There are seven major types of art produced in Africa. They are masks, textiles, baskets, metalwork, furniture, pottery and beadwork. I am going to talk about a couple of these and where and when they came about. I am also going to discuss, the different influences of African art on western and modern art, the traditions of African art, and the history of African art in different areas of Africa.

African art has played a significant role in the culture and history of the world. Examples, from the earliest mists of time, are figures of people and animals carved into rocks. Many artists have been influenced, by African art, to adapt their own interpretations of it to their own time period. Though there are thousands of different ethnic groups in Africa, there are widespread characteristics that make it distinctly African. The seven major types of art produced in Africa are: masks, textiles, baskets, metal-works, furniture, pottery, and bead-work. I am going to discuss how some of these were developed; the different influences of African art on modern, Western art; the traditions of African art; as well as it's history in different areas of Africa.

Michael asks…
Shouldn't Obama introduce an education bill that makes African history a mandatory part?
of the American school curriculum--afterall, if it weren't for Black Americans the U.S. would NEVER have become a super-power as quickly as it did (a result of 350 years of FREE labour by people who didn't die from disease [Natives], heat-exhaustion [Europeans], and fatigue [Asians] )
NOR, would it have become the cultural super-power it is today, so much so that it is copied around the globe: Jazz, Rock & Roll, Soul, Techno, Hip Hop, Blues [all arts of Black origin that have taken the world by storm]
Added to this is Black inventions "American"*cough*WHITE*cough* history books don't acknowledge:

Artie answers:
No... Why would we want to learn African history.. I'm content with learning Black American History. Black American inventions are not considered African inventions. Jazz, Rock n Roll, Techno, Hip Hop, and Blues all originated in America they have absolutely nothing to do with Africa.
@Zumaria exactly he was Black in America he was not an African
